Valentine's Surprise

Sit down y'all and get comfortable because you'll want to read on....

Last Friday, we celebrated Valentine's Day at our ward activity that involved food & visiting. It was fun but nothing too special. So for Valentine's Day, I didn't expect much to happen. I was half asleep around 5 p.m. when Lance woke up and needed to be held. So I decided to do something for Jared and buy him his favorite pizza: pepperoni pizza from Papa John's. I even had it delivered (usually I don't like to pay the extra fee). Anyway, Jared got home around 6 p.m. and I thought he would devour the pizza. But he announced that I had 30 minutes to get ready. That's all he said. I played 20 questions with him and he wouldn't tell me anything! What about Lance? Where are we going? So we hurried to clean the house, I got ready & nursed Lance. At 6:30 p.m., my visiting teachers arrived at our house. They were our "babysitters" for the night and had secretly volunteered to watch our kids (only Jared knew about it). Jared & I got in the van and drove to McKinney (I still didn't know where we were going at this time). We arrived at Saltgrass Steak House. Apparently the rest of Collin County likes this place too because there was a line going out the front door. Fortunately Jared had made reservations. Our wait was only 15 minutes (and the person I sat next to outside had already been waiting for 1 1/2 hours).

I order a 10 oz. sirloin steak with mashed potatoes. It was delicious! They also serve warm wheat bread as a complimentary appetizer. We were amazed at how fast we ate. I attribute that to the fact that there weren't any kids with us.

We arrived home to kids in bed and Lance happy. Rene & Stacey (my VTers) promptly left. I gasped as I looked down the hallway.... (see photos below).

I totally didn't expect any more than a night out with my sweetheart. Then to see a dozen of the most unique roses, chocolates, candles, and even sparkling white grape juice. Wow! It was a most amazing surprise! It was a beautiful evening thanks to my wonderful visiting teachers and my wonderful husband. It was the BEST Valentine's Day ever! And I really needed the boost since my kids (namely my 3 year old) have been a huge challenge. I love my husband!
