August fun in the sun -- Sea World San Antonio

Our big trip for the summer was to Sea World in San Antonio, Texas. We prepared by buying four new tires for our van. I went in to get them rotated and found that all four were needing replacement. We bought them only two years ago. Thank goodness we had a good warranty on them so we got $254 towards replacing them (since the tires only lasted 1/4 of what they were promised to last). Also, we bought Lance a new car seat. He was previously using the one we bought for Dallin over 7 years ago!

After a long drive, we made it to San Antonio the night before. We stayed with our BYU friends, Matt & JulieAnn Fisher and their three kids. They were literally a five minute drive from Sea World. Talk about convenient!!!

Jared and the kids at the entrance to Sea World.

Dallin rode his FIRST roller coaster: The Steel Eel. I went with him and he was so scared that he ducked a lot of the time. It was quite the roller coaster, I must admit. :)

Shamu show called "Believe"

Alexa & Dallin as flamingos (like the ones behind them).

Dallin LOVED watching "Pirates 4-D". Alexa liked it until the pirate stuck his sword right in her face. After that she was on my lap so quick and her face was buried in my shoulder. It was so exciting to "feel" the bees sting, birds "poop", pirates "spit", crabs "bite", and more. I loved watching Dallin go from excited to scared to laughing. It was a fun show (and nice to get out of the 100+ degree heat and off our feet).

Jared & Dallin rode the log ride and enjoyed it.

All five of us rode a kid ride that went up a story or two and jerked down a little at a time. Jared was going to stay back with Lance but the girl running the ride said that if Lance could walk, then he could ride (he was at least 6" too short). We rode it twice and loved it. Many other families started a line behind us since we must've been too loud with how fun we were having! :)

Ropes course in the kid section of the park.

"Viva!" was my favorite show!!! There was a funny guy that made fun of everyone the whole time. He even made fun of the high divers by doing high dives himself. One of the times he kept a running pose in the air as he was going towards the water. There were also synchonized swimmers & huge swings that they dove off of. The dolphins were fun to watch as well.

This is Day 2 at Sea World. We spent it mainly at their big water park, Lost Lagoon. We spent time in the wave pool and several of the water rides. Jared & I each did the big float ride with Dallin and then Jared did a couple other water tube rides with Dallin while Alexa & Lance & I relaxed and ate our lunches.

Lance loves Alexa's crocs. Recently we bought him his own a pair of crocs that he can put on by himself!

After doing the lazy river several times, we watched a cheesy show. Alexa was especially excited to take these pictures.

Alexa, Dallin & the Shark

We bought three sardines and Dallin loved touching and feeding the dolphins. We're glad our friends told us that we had to do this! It was worth paying extra to feed the dolphins.

Alexa was quite scared of dolphins up close so she chose to sit behind us in the stroller. Dallin couldn't keep his eyes off the dolphins.

We saw lots of fun water animals: jelly fish, fish, poisonous frogs, sharks and more. We loved Sea World. It's an AWESOME place for both kids and adults! Loved it! Our kids also loved playing with the Fisher's three kids each day after Sea World. In fact, Alexa would have loved to stay there even more. But we did have to go home....so we drove to Round Rock, Texas and stayed the night with my cousin, Becky (pictured below), Daniel, and their little son Seth. They treated us to the supposed famous Round Rock donuts.....

and a looong, hot walk to see thee "round" rock (pictured to the left of our family picture below). We had a FUN family vacation!!!
