For most of Dallin's life, he's been stuffed up with mucus constantly in his nose. All of the pediatricians I've taken him to said that "Oh, it's just allergies. Haha." Well, I decided to take him to a specialist since the pediatrician didn't really look into the problem. After going to two different ENT doctors which included a CAT scan, the doctor determined that removing Dallin's adenoids will be the best solution for now. He also has a deviated septum (slightly crooked bone inside the middle of his nose) but that can't be corrected until he's an adult.
Dallin is such a cool and calm boy. Get this: he was EXCITED to be having surgery. He couldn't contain his smile. It sure helped me to get over my nerves, that's for sure.
This is right before he was wheeled away. Then he was sedated and underwent a 30 minute surgery. The ENT doctor that performed the surgery did a great job and the anestiologist was such a nice guy!
Post surgery Dallin. He had to fast prior to the surgery so he was starving once he actually woke up from the anestia. He still keeps talking about how yummy the popsicles were that he got afterwards. Notice the IV in Dallin's left arm. Before surgery, the anesthesiologist explained about the IV. After he left, Dallin asked "Why are they putting poison ivy in my arm?" We had a good laugh on that one! Also another thing Dallin said was "Please tell me that you didn't make my nose any bigger!" No worries there! Two hours after our arrival at the McKinney Surgery Center and we were out of there! To celebrate Dallin doing so well, Jared & I took him out to breakfast at Mimi's Cafe. Dallin's response later when asked how it went was an enthusiastic "It was awesome!"
Grandma & Grandpa Chapple sent get well card & gum. Thanks so much! Dallin went back to school the day following the surgery but then felt really tired and yucky the rest of the week. Now nearly two months later and he seems to be doing great! He can breathe better and I think he sleeps better at night too.

Yea Dallin - for being such a trooper! I'm sure that made things easier as parents. Can't say I've met many kids that have been excited for surgery, funny.
Glad things went well with that.
I am so sorry he has to struggle with that stuff....I have been through it all. My deviated septum surgery came in my early 20's. Hopefully having his adenoids out will help for now! Wish I had some words of wisdom, I am just broken...still am after all of my procedures :) Tell Dallin I feel his pain :)
I'm so glad that he had the surgery and is feeling better. You couldn't ask for a better patient!
I am glad all went well with the Surgery, Dallin sure does always have something funny to say... are you sure it didn't make his nose bigger though??...haha jk! Funny kid!
I don't think I could be calm at all before a surgery. Not one on me or Brian or James. I'm glad it all went well. I hope it makes all the difference.
We are glad to hear that Dallin's surgery went well. And, so glad that they didn't make his nose any bigger! :-)
I had no idea, he looks like he did great.
Wow, what a trooper! (just noticed that's what Caitlin said too. oh well, I can't always be original.) This is a great write up. I was cracking up at Dallin's comments.
